Welcome To Visual Wings Aviary

Australia is the Continent of Curiosities. There are extraordinary furry creatures, like the Kangaroo and Koala and odd ones like the Platypus and Echidna. The bird life of Australia is just as varied and unique!
Australia's amazing birds come in all sizes and shapes. The parrot species includes the intelligent Cockatoos, the amusing Lories, the well-known budgerigars, and the colorful parakeets that come in all shades of the rainbow.
Australian Parakeets are often loosely referred to as "Grass Parakeets". The reason for this is that these birds spend most of their day foraging for grassy seeds on the ground. Neophemas, are the smaller birds belonging to this group, such as the Scarlet-chested, Turquoisine, and Elegant Parakeet; the Neopsephotus only has one member, the Bourke Parakeet. The Psephotus parrots are medium-sized birds, such as the Red Rump, the Many-colored and Hooded Parakeet. There are the larger Platycercus, more commonly know as the Rosellas, and the Polytelis, or Princess of Wales Parakeets. Besides being referred to as grass parakeets, all of these birds share some common traits: a slender body, long tail feathers and vividly colorful plumage.
Australian parakeets, whether small or large, are our specialty. For the past 18 years we have focused on these colorful gems, learning their little secrets and quirks. We have traveled to Australia to observe them in the wild and learn as much as possible about their habitat, diet and preferences. A good understanding of the individual species characteristics leads us to breed quality birds and offer our customers expert advice. Our experiences with breeding Australian Parakeets have been published in Bird Talk, Bird Breeder, ASA, AFA and The Australian Birdkeeper magazine.
Over the years we have expanded our collection to include varied bloodlines of each species, as well as unusual mutations. We also breed Lineolated Parakeets; although these little guys are South American birds, we love them because of their unique personalities and resemblance to grass parakeets. Recently we have added more species to our aviary, which include: Mutation Red Rump Parakeets, Mutation Eastern Rosellas, Western Rosellas, normal and Blue Princess of Wales, Hooded Parakeets, Plumhead Parakeets, and some very rare Violet Black-masked Lovebirds. As always we continue to breed a large quantity of English Budgies.
In May 2002, we re-located our birds to a five acre farm in Central Florida. A forest-like setting along with warm Florida sunshine create the scenery for our breeding birds. As a small aviary we are able to give all our pairs individual attention, which includes daily feeding of fresh organic greens and vegetables, 365 days a year. Australian parakeets are our true love. In turn, our birds reward us for this tender loving care by raising happy and healthy baby birds.
